newspapers covering my feat....

must watch for all the MDS aspirants...

"BELEIVE IN YOURSELF AND ALWAYS KNOW THAT THERE IS SOMETHING INSIDE YOU WHICH IS GREATER THAN THE CIRCUMSTANCES".

Just words cant describe the pains and stress which every aspirant undergoes while preparing for the MDS goal . What i have learnt from my experience is that this fight is not that u dont fall down but its how hard u bounce back when u hit the bottom. I was very close to a MDS seat twice in AIIMS and twice in PGI and i must admit that at times it was very difficult to accept the situation but always remember everyone is god's child, so he will always have some better plans for you. Always lift yourself , be self motivated and believe in yourself because you never know which upcoming exam is for you. Just keep on revising things because its better to read the same thing several times then to read several different things just one time. Do that much which u will be able to revise then to pile on the loads and get confused.

Always remember your success in life depends on 2 things:-
HOW U MANAGE THINGS WHEN U HAVE NOTHING AND HOW U BEHAVE WHEN U HAVE EVERYTHING.

There is no fixed path on which success is guaranteed but i will show a tried and tested path which got me my dream seat in AIIMS. My preparation was always for the government seat exams and not for private college exams (i never appeared for them) so for private college exams the preparation strategy might be different.

WHAT Books to be read :- This question is for those who are preparing for the first time. Those who are preparing for the second attempt will be aware of all the books. But now a days trend is changing day by day and AIIMS examination department is picking up questions from some new books so its always necessary to be updated in this regard. Below are the books which i read to achieve my dream.

I would like to divide the preparation into two phases. Phase 1 is for the initial preparation i.e for those who are not getting rank within first 100 in AIIMS or PGI or any other national examination. The phase two is about polishing your initial preparation, smart work, tips and tricks, reading relevant texts and mental balance i.e for those who are getting ranks within 100 but are not getting thru to the top.

                                                                  PHASE 1

Books

Dental pulse clinicals and basic-Synopsis are very nicely presented, though not reliable for AIIMS,AIPG and PGI questions.
Gowrishankar -Notes given at the end of every chapter are highly informative.
Amit ashish- For medical AIIMS papers.
Mudit khanna- For medical AIPG papers.
Dental spectrum- Highly recommended by Top rankers all over india For dental AIIMS,AIPG and PGI papers from the authors from AIIMS and PGI (boom in the market after AIPG 2014 as 35 questions were straight picks).Only book in market which provides AIIMS and PGI secret question banks.Manisha prabhakar-mcq book, do Periodontics and conservative dentistry from it.
Pankaj dhawan- mcq book, do only dental materials and prosthodontics from it.
Ritu duggal-mcq book, do orthodontics, prosthodontics, pedodontics, community dentistry, miscellaneous from it.
National Dental boards- Basic And Clinicals.

This are the books to start with. Every aspirant all over india knows about it but how much u master it is what decides the game. As u will be mastering all this books naturally u will start getting ranks under 100 in every exam so will get a MDS seat for sure. Now is the question of HOW TO GET A SEAT IN TOP NOTCH INSTITUTE LIKE AIIMS ?? this is the part where hard work will be secondarily and smart work will matter the most.

                                                               PHASE 2

In this phase its most important not get over confident of your preparation, develop good contacts with the toppers of top institute exams, polish your previous PHASE 1 knowledge, read relevant texts, be aware of the tips and tricks of the game and above all be mentally balanced. If u will be able to master all this points there is no chance that anyone can stop u entering into AIIMS.

                                                 DONT BE OVER CONFIDENT

This happens with everyone as its human nature. As when u will enter this phase of preparation u will already be getting ranks with in 100 so always remember fight is not over untill u hit the last blow. Still u need to get to the top of the ladder so in over confidence silly mistakes should not happen in exam. Be cool, because the expectations would be high from u so just remember u need not to prove ur point to anyone just be honest to urself.

                                                        RELEVANT TEXTS

This is the phase where u need to gather in depth knowledge of the topics which are frequently asked in the last 2 years. For this u will need to analyse the dental AIIMS papers of last 2 years and search out for the frequently asked topics. According to my knowledge and analysis read following TOPICS:-

MCQs IN ORTHODONTICS by Dr Jitendra Sharan.

ANATOMY OF HEAD AND NECK- be thorough with the nerve supply, blood supply, muscle attachments and other things of head and neck anatomy (from B.D.CHAURASIA and ACROSS).

ORAL PATHOLOGY- it is the most frequently asked subject so read it thoroughly from NEVILLE and not from SHAFERS.

ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY- read fracture in detail from FONSECA mainly mandibular fracture and read TMJ from PETER WARDBROOTH.

PREVENTIVE AND SOCIAL MEDICINE- read statistics and various tests for analysis of data from some medical PSM mcq book like ARORA PUBLICATION

DENTAL MATERIALS-be thorough with the impression materials, casting procedures, cements, biological and physical properties of dental materials( from CRAIG and PHILLIPS)

PHARMACOLOGY- read pharmacology in depth especially the recent drugs, anesthesia and advances in treatment       ( from SPARSH GUPTA)

MICROBIOLOGY- read not from some microbiology book instead read from HARRISON because AIIMS people are picking up questions from it not from some microbiology text book.

PHYSIOLOGY- read blood- brain barrier from GANONG.

CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY- chapter 1,2,3,4 from STURDVANT.

ENDODONTICS- instrument and material chapter from COHEN.

PEDODONTICS- read pharmacological behaviour management and dental caries from MC DONALDS.

INTUBATION notes from dental spectrum 2nd edition.

Ambulatory anesthesia from MILLER'S ANESTHESIA.

                                                          TIPS AND TRICKS

Develop a profound contact network with RANKERS and search for the direct pick question's source. Always remember AIIMS examination commitee never forms new questions for dental students they always have a question bank .

                                                            MENTAL BALANCE

THIS is the most important key to success because during the journey there would be many ups and downs but always keep in mind:-

"VICTORY HAS MANY FATHERS BUT DEFEAT IS ORPHAN"

SO when u will get success u will see many hands clapping for u but when u will fail there would not be any hands holding u instead there would be many mouths bitching about you. So u need not to care for anything except your hardwork because trust me in the end u will be a HERO. Actions speak harder than words so u just have to prove your worth. What you are doing is for your betterment not to show others what u are. Just keep following points in your mind :-

- Respect the seat and the seat will respect you because its not easy to crack AIIMS. This i am telling u on basis of my experience with my collegues at AIIMS. All those who tell kuch nahi padha aur seat nikal gayi yaar, sab luck ka khel hai are not the candidates for AIIMS.

-  Always do good to others -dont tell wrong answers or hide notes and all. Because instead of giving yourself an advantage u will increase your mental burden because u will have a sense of guilt in your heart. There is always GOD watching your activities. Trust me he will pay u for what u do to others, nothing goes unrewarded. Be a GOOD HUMAN BEING.

- Dont stay in touch with all the friends. Just select closest handfull of friends whom you think are motivation for u because if u will talk with many u will have one or the other issues to be handled everyday. Dont talk with those who are demotivating.

- Stay away from making new girlfriend or boyfriend, if u are in a relationship then develop understanding.

- Stay away from society i.e marriages, family functions, social sites, text messages, calls, television. You need not to care for anything else except your seat. Let everyone enjoy they will pay u for your hardwork lateron in your life.

- Before preparation explain to the family that unless u will get a seat u are not going to quit. make them understand the level of competetion because family support is a vital part of preparation.

- Always recall the questions immediately after coming from the exam and search their answers as soon as possible because 1st recall is the best recall.

- Be fresh on the day of exam. remember till how much late u will read u wont complete the revision of course one night before instead dont tense and sleep properly.

- Watch movies, play games or do whatever u like when u get bored but it should not be over enjoyment.

- Take 6 hrs of sleep that much is sufficient. And in all other time dont waste time and just read may be 12 hrs or 14 hrs u will get.

- ALWAYS FOLLOW ANY ONE RANKER WHOM YOU TRUST BECAUSE TOO MANY COOK WILL SPOIL THE BROTH.

- This is the last chance for u to prove your worth because u will never get the amount of praise and respect which u will get by cracking AIIMS anytime in life. It is the actual sense of satisfaction which u will be able to see in your parent's eyes, which is uncomparable( I still remember my parents crying on the day of AIIMS result.

- Love and ask for the seat with full passion and true dedication. Your each nerve, vessel, tissue, cells should demand for it and i am guaranting u will get it. Because SACCHE DIL SE MANGI HUI DUWA KABHI KHALI NAHI JATI.

- SEAT CAN BE DELAYED BUT CAN'T BE DENIED.

- IS KHEL ME KOI NAHI HARTA , BUT JUST DONT QUIT.

- NEVER DO A MISTAKE OF NOT TRUSTING YOUR LUCK, IT CAN BOUNCE ANYTIME.

Consider this scenario: In a remote forest, a pregnant deer is about to give birth
to a baby. It finds a remote grass field near by a river and slowly goes there
thinking it would be safe. As she moves slowly, she gets labor pain. At the same
moment, dark clouds gather around that area and lightning starts a forest fire.
Turning left  she sees a hunter who is aiming an arrow  from a distance.
As she tries to move towards right, she spots a hungry lion approaching towards
her.
Stochastic Probability Theory - Pregnant Deer Scenario:
What can the pregnant deer do as she is already under labor pain ?
What do you think will happen?
Will the deer survive?
Will it give birth to a fawn?
Will the fawn survive?
OR
Will everything be burnt by the forest fire ?
That particular moment ?
Can the deer go left ? – Hunter’s arrow  is pointing

Can she go right ? – Hungry male lion approaching
Can she move up ? – Forest fire
Can she move down ?  – Fierce river
Answer:  She does nothing. She just focuses on giving birth to a new  LI FE.
The sequence of events that happens at that fraction of  a second (moment) are
as follows:
In a spur of MOMENT a lightning  strikes (already it is cloudy ) and blinds the
eyes of the Hunter. At that MOMENT, he releases the arrow  missing and zipping
past the deer. At that MOMENT the arrow  hits and injures the lion badly. At that
MOMENT, it starts to rain heavily and puts out the forest fire. At that next
MOMENT, the deer gives birth to a healthy fawn.
In our life, it’s our MOMENT of CHOICE and we all have to deal with such
negative thoughts from all sides always. Some thoughts are so powerful they
overpower us and makes us clueless. Let us not decide anything in a hurry. Let’s
think of ourselves as the pregnant deer with the ultimate happy ending.
Anything can happen in a MOMENT in this life. I f you are religious, superstitious,
atheist, agnostic or whatever, you can attribute this MOMENT as divine
intervention, faith, sudden luck, chance (serendipity), coincidence or a simple
‘don’t know ' .
We all feel the same.
But, whatever one may call it, I  would see the priority of the deer in that given
moment w as to giving birth to a baby because LIFE IS PRECIOUS.
Hence, whether you are deer or a human, keep that faith and hope within.

Frequently asked question- Do i need to join any coaching classes???
In my view Yes you need to join some test series to monitor your progress,to see where you stand and how much you are able to recollect.
Which one i would recommend?
I myself joined a couple of coaching classes but what gave me a thrust was SAFE ACADEMY. It helped me alot in my tough phase and guided me through.
